Margaret Edwards

I was fortunate to be born into a very musical family.  My mother was an extremely talented and capable pianist and I have been enthralled by and immersed in the wonderful world of music all my life.  Consequently, I have developed a great love and appreciation for the many different kinds of music, with its various genres and moods.  I commenced learning the piano, when I was five years old.

As a teacher with more than fifty years’ experience, I have thoroughly enjoyed teaching and sharing music with children from Pre-School age and Kindergarten through to Year Six Classes, training, conducting and accompanying, Infants and Primary choirs, recorder and percussion bands for Concerts, Eisteddfods, School Spectaculars and Concerts at the Sydney Opera House.  I have been responsible, as Musical Director, for accompanying and training children for numerous School Musicals over the years and have always encouraged children to perform at their best and achieve to their potential. I have also been an organist at the Uniting Church in Harden for more than forty years and love experimenting with the different stops to achieve a variety of sounds on the pipe organ.

Since retiring from the NSW Department of Education, I have loved teaching the piano to my students at the Young Regional School of Music for the past eight years.  I enjoy helping people wherever they are on their musical journey, to achieve their goals, some choosing to sit for exams, others choosing to play for relaxation and enjoyment.

Music enriches and enhances our lives, whether it is listening to others play, striving to improve and develop our own capabilities or performing for others, it is a life-long pleasure.
